FLORIDA’S CAPE CANAVERAL SPACEPORT, THE WORLD’S GATEWAY TO SPACE
Starfighters is a flight opera ons tenant at the Cape Canaveral Spaceport, the world’s most capable space transportation hub. Our fleet occupies a hangar at the Space Shuttle Landing Facility’s 15,000-foot runway on NASA’s historic Kennedy Space Center (KSC), enabled under agreements with NASA and Space Florida, the state’s spaceport authority.
The first humans to land on the moon were launched within view of our facility, as were the Space Shuttles and nearly every other U.S. rocket capable of putting payloads and people into orbit.
THE SPACEPORT OF TOMORROW
While Starfighters is part of a rich history at the spaceport, we are focused on a future dedicated to NewSpace government and commercial innovation. Tomorrow’s entrepreneurial space enterprise is fast becoming a reality here.
In this future environment of co-located government and commercial activities, the spaceport will serve as a nexus for launch and recovery operations, launch vehicle development, payload testing and integration, human spaceflight training, and mission planning.
STARFIGHTER HISTORY AT NASA
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter has a rich history in support of research and spaceflight. The F-104 was used extensively by the U.S. Air Force and NASA as an advanced platform for training and testing, alongside vehicles like the X-15. NASA used its fleet of F-104s for early astronaut training and to replicate Space Shuttle re-entry and landing profiles.
