CF-104

Our team flys & maintains the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, one of the
most storied aircraft in aviation history. The F-104 is a single engine,
high performance, supersonic, air superiority fighter, that had a 50 year military operational history & served in various roles for 15 countries including the United States & Canada.

Today the aircraft, serves our team in various roles which include training, operational flight test & evaluation and for airshow performances across the United States & Canada.

The team currently operates 3 ex. Canadian Military CF-104 Starfighters;

The F-104 was orginally designed in 1952 by Clarence L. "Kelly" Johnson (Pictured Right) at Lockheed's "Advanced Projects Development Office" more affectionately known as, the Skunk Works.

In 1953 the Air Force was so impressed with the
design concept of the aircraft, they ordered several
YF-104A Starfighters for extensive flight &
operational testing.

The aircraft first flew on March 5th, 1954 with
Lockheed Test Pilot, A.W."Tony" LaVier at the
controls of the then designated XF-104, just over
two years from it's original design date a feat
unheard of in aviation at the time.

On January 26th, 1958 the USAF took their first deliveries of 146 ordered
F-104As. Five months later that same year the aircraft broke the world speed record & some 6 months later held simultaneous world speed, altitude & time to climb records, the first ever aircraft to hold all three.

The F-104 is powered by a single General Electric J79 Turbojet Engine, this revolutionary powerplant enabled the F-104 to be the first production fighter aircraft to sustain speeds in excess of MACH 2 in level flight.
The J79-GE-11 produces some 17,500lbs of thrust!
